The U.S. Department of State has designated an Italian hacking group as terrorists after uncovering some alarming ties.
This revelation has had severe consequences for U.S. federal agents, as the European group is reported to be collaborating closely with Antifa cells across the United States.
The group, known as Autistici/Inventati Collective, is now classified as a specially designated global terrorist organization. This means it will be mentioned alongside groups like al-Qaeda and al-Shabaab.
The State Department characterized the group as a hacker collective supplying far-left extremists with essential services, including encryption for communication and web-hosting capabilities.
“The A/I Collective is a central player in the far-left’s campaign against our society,” stated the department.
Notably, the A/I Collective has been backing the Portland Antifa unit, known as Rose City. This group utilized a site managed by the Italian collective to doxx ICE agents, provoke attacks on them at home, and even plan laser assaults on Border Patrol helicopters.
A visual released by the federal government featured a poster titled: “You’re Invited: Lazer Tag!”
This invitation urged individuals to visit public spaces and aim lasers at CBP helicopters to disrupt their flights. “Let’s take back the night together!” proclaimed the poster.
Moreover, other websites affiliated with A/I Collective incited violent acts against critical infrastructure, according to a government statement. These platforms provided “comprehensive guides” on arson, bombings, and the sabotage of important sites such as bridges and military logistics.
Websites operated by this Italian hacking collective also appear to have served as venues for extremists to boast about their terrorist activities.
One individual was reported to have bragged about bombing a police car and planning an assault on a federal facility, with confirmation of his guilt from the government.
Moreover, a group calling itself “Jane’s Revenge” carried out bombings at pregnancy centers from Colorado to New York and used one of the sites to call for further attacks, as noted in government posts.
Internationally, an assault on Germany’s power grid resulted in a death, with responsibility claimed on an A/I Collective-managed website, alongside calls for additional public sabotage.
In Italy, seven people faced terrorism-related arrests due to disrupting a rail line during the upcoming 2026 Winter Olympics, subsequently issuing a manifesto on a site hosted by A/I Collective.
The Secretary of State commented that “far-left terrorism represents a significant danger to the United States and the broader West.” He added that the U.S. has sanctioned Autistici/Inventati, a substantial far-left tech group whose services have been utilized by the most active and violent Antifa groups both in the U.S. and globally.
The State Department emphasized its commitment to dismantling transnational far-left terror networks, ensuring no sanctuary for extremist factions intent on violently toppling free societies.
