Gruesome Discovery in Dallas Home
Dallas police have filed murder charges against a man after the body of his girlfriend was found in a freezer at an abandoned house, a location frequently associated with drug users.
On May 10, a neighbor alerted authorities about a potential body inside the home on Georgia Avenue in East Oak Cliff after overhearing comments from drug users.
It appears the couple had a tumultuous relationship. One witness reported that the two had threatened each other with a knife and claimed to have seen the woman lying on the closet floor three days prior to the discovery of her body.
When police arrived, they located a freezer containing human remains in the bedroom. The victim, identified as 27-year-old Maria Murray, had to be thawed before the Dallas County Coroner’s Office confirmed she died from multiple stab wounds, including a serious injury to her brain.
Detectives observed bloodstains on the bedroom walls and carpet. They also found a military knife concealed in cloth and towels in the room’s drywall.
Following the investigation, 51-year-old Kendrick Brown was arrested on suspicion of murder. While he claimed ignorance about the room and its contents, police discovered video evidence on his phone showing him in the room multiple times, suggesting a romantic link with Murray.
The resident of the house communicated through an American Sign Language interpreter, stating that there were several arguments between Brown and Murray. The witness further mentioned they never saw her again after Brown yelled at him and shut the door.
Interestingly, reports surfaced that the house was set ablaze just hours after her body was found. Brown is currently detained in the Dallas County Jail with a bail set at $250,000.
