A severed human leg found in the Bronx over the weekend is reportedly suspected to be the partial remains of a man who was dragged for miles on the subway.

Authorities made the horrifying discovery Saturday when Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) workers found a man’s left foot on the railroad tracks around 1:30 p.m. The human remains were located in the path of the northbound No. 4 train between the 167th and 170th Street stations. This was announced by the New York City Police Department.

Police sources told the newspaper that the body of a man who had fallen or jumped from the railroad tracks was discovered on Monday, February 12. The body was missing its left leg.

The incomplete body was found at Spring Street Station in Lower Manhattan, at least nine miles from where the human foot was found, the newspaper said.

Police do not suspect any crime in the man’s death, the report said.

A leading theory, the paper said, is that the train may have dragged the tracks for miles to the 167th Street stop in the Bronx, where MTA workers discovered it while clearing snow from the tracks.

The leg was removed from the scene and taken to the coroner’s office for examination. Law enforcement sources told the Post that they believe DNA and blood tests will show that the limbs match human remains found on February 12, but they have yet to confirm. Not confirmed.

The NYPD did not respond to a subsequent request for comment. Law enforcement officials typically do not release statements about ongoing investigations.
