Investigation into Abandoned Baby Case Reveals Four Bodies in Tennessee
Memphis, Tennessee – On Tuesday, authorities identified four deceased individuals in Lake County, Tennessee. This revelation is part of an ongoing investigation related to cases of abandoned babies in Dyer County.
The four victims have been identified as Courtney Rose, Matthew Wilson, Adriana Williams, and an unidentified boy. Their bodies were found in the town of Tiptonville.
In a related incident, a baby was discovered unharmed in a car seat on the front lawn of a residence along Old Highway 20, nearby the Tigret area. The discovery continues to unfold as investigations progress.
District Attorney Danny Goodman Jr. confirmed on Wednesday that the deceased were connected to the baby’s case.
The woman who found the baby expressed her shock and reluctance to speak on camera, sharing her distress with Nexstar’s WREG. She was visibly shaken by the situation.
Witnesses reported seeing a dark minivan or a white mid-sized SUV leaving the scene where the baby was dropped off. The sheriff’s office later sought information from Rose, Wilson, and Williams after identifying the baby.
Details regarding the circumstances surrounding the deaths of the individuals and why their home was chosen as a drop-off point remain unclear. It also raises questions about how the baby was left unattended throughout the day.
Lake County lies just north of Dyer County in northwest Tennessee, about a two-hour drive from Memphis and close to the Kentucky border.
“This is a tragic day for our community. We are dedicated to uncovering the truth and ensuring justice,” stated Dyer County Sheriff Jeff Box.
Goodman noted that he doesn’t believe there’s an ongoing threat to public safety, characterizing the situation as isolated rather than part of a broader pattern of violence.
The Dyer County and Lake County Sheriff’s Departments, in collaboration with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the FBI, are pursuing this case.
