Authorities looking into footage of supposed argument on Horn Island before disappearance of Mississippi teenager

Investigation Underway After Missing Teen Found Dead

MIAMI – A video is being investigated by police, which allegedly shows a violent dispute prior to the disappearance of Nolan Xavier Wells, a Mississippi teenager whose body was discovered later. His grandfather remarked that “nothing right about this” situation.

The 18-year-old football star vanished during a boating trip with friends over the Fourth of July weekend. A body matching his description was found on Monday morning.

According to the Cajun Navy and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Wells was last seen around 3 p.m. on Saturday, reportedly talking to a girl near the northern tip of Horn Island, which is about 10 miles off the coast.

Authorities are probing a viral video that surfaced online, showing several individuals engaged in a “heavy” conversation along the shore, as noted by TMZ. Speculation suggests this confrontation may be related to Wells’ disappearance.

However, law enforcement has not verified the authenticity of the video or established any links to Wells or anyone he might have been with.

Jackson County Sheriff John Ledbetter informed ABC News that Wells’ friends left the island while he opted to stay behind.

“From what we understand, he chose to stay there,” Ledbetter stated.

On Tuesday afternoon, Ledbetter expressed a desire to speak with anyone who might have witnessed or heard any disturbances on the island that day.

Meanwhile, Wells’ family, including his wide receiver parents at Southwest Mississippi Community College, are seeking answers. They are troubled by the circumstances surrounding his death.

“There are too many unanswered questions. How did the island that was searched yesterday give birth to my grandson’s body this morning?” asked his grandfather, Christopher Wells Sr., on Facebook.

“There’s nothing right about this. Nolan Xavier Wells deserved the same opportunities in life as those around him,” he added.

Wells Sr. mentioned that Nolan’s mother, Christine, and father, Elmore, remained hopeful but had to prepare for potential bad news. “It’s time to get answers,” he insisted.

Images of the 6-foot-1, 180-pound teen show him shirtless, in blue swimming trunks and sunglasses, enjoying time with friends on a boat before he disappeared.

The United Cajun Navy, a nonprofit disaster relief group, initiated aerial reconnaissance efforts to search the waters between Horn Island and Ship Island, stretching south toward the Chandelier Islands.

Reportedly, the U.S. Coast Guard, along with the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources and Harrison County Sheriff’s Department, participated in the extensive search operation.
