Authorities reportedly arrested six people in New York on Tuesday for smuggling duck entrails.

Some of the duck and goose intestines were hidden under packaged rattlesnakes and some were incorrectly listed as pet grooming products on customs documents, authorities said. The suspects are also suspected of illegally importing duck blood and hawthorn berries, the newspaper said.

The suspects allegedly transported prohibited goods from China to California, the newspaper said. Once in California, the illegal food was shipped to New York, where it was sold to customers and some restaurants, according to the complaint filed Monday.
The six suspects are facing federal charges for illegally importing, storing and selling hundreds of pounds of food from August 2022 to May 2023, according to the Associated Press. According to the report, authorities announced that imports of raw poultry products and hawthorn fruit from China into the United States are federally prohibited. 1,966 cartons of goose and duck intestines were falsely labeled on customs documents as an assortment of nail clippers and pet grooming products and shipped from China to the Port of Long Beach in August 2022, according to the complaint. The news agency reported. From there, the luggage was sent to Los Angeles International Airport and then flown to New York, the outlet said. In November 2022, another shipment of illegal chicken products was reportedly incorrectly marked as frozen seafood.
The suspects are scheduled to appear in federal court in Brooklyn on Tuesday, according to the Associated Press.
