Charges Filed Against Suspected Assassin of Charlie Kirk

Authorities have submitted an affidavit outlining charges against the individual suspected of attempting to assassinate Charlie Kirk, according to reports.

Tyler Robinson, a 22-year-old, is currently in custody and faces charges including aggravated murder, felony firearm discharge causing serious injury, and obstruction of justice.

Utah County Attorney Jeff Gray is set to formally press charges against Robinson on Tuesday, and these will be state-level offenses.

On Friday, officials confirmed Robinson’s detention at the Utah County Jail, with a judge denying bail. Utah Governor Spencer Cox indicated that they believe Robinson acted alone. Furthermore, they have stated that the death penalty could be pursued in this case.

On Friday morning, President Donald Trump noted that the alleged assailant was in custody. Kirk was shot in the neck at Utah Valley University while hosting a storytelling event aimed at students.

Authorities released footage showing the suspect fleeing from a UVU building, jumping onto the grass below, and escaping into a nearby wooded area.

Law enforcement sources mentioned that they recognized Robinson from pictures released by his father, who encouraged him to surrender. Initially, Robinson was resistant, but later complied after conversation with a local pastor.

There appear to be no prior criminal records associated with Robinson, and military officials confirmed he is not affiliated with any branch.

Once media arrived at Robinson’s family home in St. George, Utah, they found the windows covered, and trucks blocking the driveway, suggesting a sense of seclusion.

A neighbor, Christine Schweeman, shared that Robinson was perceived as intelligent and quiet, stating, “It was just a shock to hear this. I mean, I was truly stunned.” She conveyed that she learned of his suspected involvement through her son and remarked, “I couldn’t believe it.”
