United Auto Workers (UAW) President Sean Fein said in an op-ed published Sunday that the union is “ready to work together” with President-elect Donald Trump.
“For 40 years, the American working class, especially blue-collar workers in manufacturing, has been under attack.” Fein wrote in the Washington Post:. “American companies went on the offensive in the 1980s, closing factories and cutting thousands of jobs.”
Since 2016, Trump has put labor policy, immigration, tariffs and working-class voters at the center of his campaign and platform. But union leaders like Mr. Fein have not always supported Mr. Trump, and Mr. Fein previously supported outgoing President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.

“Donald Trump capitalized on this bipartisan betrayal in 2016, appealing to the anger and disillusionment of workers,” Fein wrote in an op-ed, adding, “I am the president of the UAW. We stand ready to work with Trump. “There is,” the headline read.
