MSNBC host Joe Scarborough said on “Morning Joe” Friday that former President Donald Trump would become a “dictator” if elected and would randomly jail people and take television stations off the air.
“That's one of the things I've never understood, and I've said it here: We all talk about preserving our democracy, and yet it's being threatened by a man who said he was going to destroy the Constitution, who said he was going to be a dictator on his first day in office, who said he was going to kill his political opponents with SEAL Team Six, or who said he could be arrested while he was president of the United States if he chose to kill his opponents with SEAL Team Six,” Scarborough said.
He added: “There are certainly threats to democracy, but there are threats to free markets, there are threats to free enterprise, there are threats to the economy. So Andrew Ross Sorkin is clearly someone who, as we said, has talked about becoming a dictator. And he said that he would not just go after his political opponents, but go after CEOs who don't agree with his policies, and he would actually take all the power into his own hands, he would take the power of the Federal Reserve into his own hands, he would take the power of the Federal Election Commission into his own hands, he would take the power of the Federal Communications Commission into his own hands, he would take the power of which television stations will be on the air, which television stations will be off the air, he would decide who goes to jail and who doesn't. And really, any CEO of a Fortune 500 company would be like, 'There's no way I can handle all of the question marks that are going to be hanging over this guy for the next four years.'”
