Donald Trump's tariffs could cause Nissan to move car production from Mexico.
Nissan CEO Inno said, “We need to be prepared for this. If this is a decision, we may be able to move production of these models elsewhere.”
Nissan CEO Infield proposed that President Trump's tariffs would force automakers to shift production out of Mexico.
“From Mexico to the US, we export a considerable number of cars this fiscal year.[…] 320,000 units are exported from Mexico to the US. If you are subject to high tariffs, you must be prepared for this. According to a Reuters translation, this is a reality while monitoring the situation,” Uchida said.
According to Spanish-language UNOTV, the move could be a major blow to the Mexican automotive production sector.
According to the outlet, Nissan ranks second in Mexico on the metric behind General Motors.
