Authorities say Iowa's parents, the one-year-old boy, were arrested this week.
Police made an intrusive discovery in a house soaked in a dirty mouse in Dubuque. There, Scott Markov, 30, and Madeline Markov, 28, lived with babies, six and four, and two other children.
The child “was falling in a bucket of bleached water, and his head was submerged in the water for a period of private disclosure,” the police affidavit said.
He was discovered by one of his older children, and he carried his body to the living room. He urged Madeline to call 911. KCRG reported.
After experiencing “acute respiratory failure and loss of consciousness,” as stated in the affidavit, the boy was immediately taken to a nearby hospital. However, he soon moved to University of Iowa Hospital, where he received more advanced and specialized care.
During the investigation, detectives find out that Scott Markov was in the toilet and the baby fell into a bucket of bleach while Madeline was in the living room at the house.
As police continued their investigation, they found the home they lived in to make their family completely filthy. Officials reported that mice were moving around, dead mice on the kitchen floor, dirty diapers in a cooking pot, and on the kitchen countertop.
The incident occurred in October last year and has been under investigation for the past four months.
The couple were arrested at 5am Tuesday and charged with child danger and neglect of an addict while suffering serious injuries, according to the Dubuque Police Department.
Scott and Madeline Markov both posted $20,000 bonds. The complaints did not give the boy any updates.
