Bad Bunny remains seated during God Bless America at Yankee Stadium during the MLB Playoff game

Bad Bunny faced significant backlash on Tuesday night after it appeared he remained seated during the performance of “God Bless America” at the New York Yankees versus Toronto Blue Jays playoff game at Yankee Stadium.

The initial photo showed the Grammy-winning artist lounging with friends a few rows behind home plate, while fans around him stood with their hands on their hearts.

A video shared by a media outlet featured the crowd singing “Lead Her” in unison as he remained seated.

Efforts to reach Bad Bunny’s agency and the Yankees for comments have been made.

Interestingly, an AI review of the photos raised no concerns.

Bad Bunny became a prominent figure when it was announced he would perform at the Super Bowl LV halftime show.

Since then, his remarks about U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) have drawn attention.

In September, he shared that he didn’t schedule a U.S. portion of his tour because he worried that fans could face detention by ICE agents.

“But the issue was that ICE could be outside, for instance, [my concert]. That was something we talked about and were very worried about,” he explained in an interview.

Earlier, in June, he posted videos showing what he described as a local ICE raid in Puerto Rico.

In those videos, he reflected on the actions of ICE agents in Carolina, a city located east of San Juan, Puerto Rico, expressing frustration over their interference.

Despite the controversy, Bad Bunny has continued to participate in U.S. sporting events and hosted an episode of “Saturday Night Live.”
