Scores from the Jets' 23-20 loss to the Bills on Monday at MetLife Stadium.
offense
The Jets totaled 393 yards in Todd Downing's debut as play-caller, but went 1-of-4 in the red zone and failed to reach the end zone enough to win the game.
QB Aaron Rodgers (23-of-35, 294 yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT, 99.0 rating) played better than he has in recent weeks, but couldn't lead his team to a fourth-quarter victory. That's what I was brought here to do.
RB Breece Hall (18 rushes, 113 yards, 5 catches, 56 yards) had his best game of the season and looked like himself. The offensive line opened up some holes in the running game, but Rodgers was still sacked three times.

defense
Head coach Jeff Ulbrich needs to talk to defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich.
The Bills ran over the Jets to start the game, and the Jets continued to allow Josh Allen to make big plays in key moments (19 of 25, 215 yards, 2 TDs, 127.9 rating, 9 rushes, 18 yards) , 1TD).

The Bills ran for 149 yards, averaging 6 yards per play.
It was also a bad night for the Jets' defense, which also failed to force turnovers.
Grade: D
special teams
Kicker Greg Zuerlein has been great for the Jets over the past few years, but he's been on a downturn.
Zerlein missed two field goals in the second half, and you could argue that it cost the Jets the victory.
The Jets did well in the return game, with Isaiah Davis recording a 33-yard kickoff return. It was an easy night for punter Thomas Morstead, who only committed two punts.

coaching
This wasn't the result Ulbrich was hoping for in his debut as interim manager, but there were some positives. Downing was an upgrade from Nathaniel Hackett, and the offense showed signs of life.
The bigger problems were the defense, baby Ulbrich, and special teams where Zeerlein missed two kicks.
The Jets had 11 penalties, a problem under head coach Robert Saleh, who didn't see any improvement in his first game under his charge. Some of the calls looked questionable, but the Jets have to get things under control.
