The post-Daniel Jones era isn't off to a great start.

At his request, the New York Giants released the No. 6 pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. The Giants demoted Jones to QB4 this week.

Tommy DeVito was nominated and got a decent hand from the crowd, but the excitement didn't last long as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers won 30-7 and drove them out of their own territory.

After Mayfield's touchdown, he made the infamous Italian hand gesture to the crowd. DeVito made it a staple in his final years and quickly became a fan favorite as a local kid of Italian descent.

When DeVito took the field for the first time on Sunday, fans gesticulated. Ask and you will receive.

Giants owner John Mara said the two sides have agreed to release Jones.

“Daniel is a great representative of our organization and is first class in every way. His response to this situation yesterday exemplified just that. We are all disappointed in the way things have turned out. We hold Daniel in high esteem and are deeply indebted to him. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors,” Mara said in a statement.
