One of the two construction workers who survived the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse in Baltimore on March 26th evacuates workers as the Dali cargo ship approaches the bridge’s support beams. He claims he was not instructed to do so.

A lawyer representing Julio Cervantes Suárez told reporters on Monday that a cargo ship crashed into the bridge, causing the collapse and construction work as workers were resting in their cars on the bridge. He said six people were killed and two were injured. Authorities are still working to recover two of the six people who died after a fourth body was discovered on Monday.

“He fought for his life and survived,” attorney Justin Miller said of Suarez at a news conference Monday. FOX 45 Baltimore.

His lawyer, L. Chris Stewart, told the media that Suarez narrowly escaped the collapse because his car’s windows were closed. Suarez was able to roll down his window and escape when his car fell into the Patapsco River, trapping others.

Stewart said of the workers working on the bridge that day, “They were living the American dream: fixing America’s infrastructure,” adding that the six people who died in the collapse were “preventable.” I was able to do it,” he added.

“He has suffered severe mental and emotional pain and suffering as a result of this,” Stewart said of his client. “He lost his family in that incident. Some of his employees were relatives, including family members who died.”

Suarez doesn’t know how to swim, but was able to cling to debris in the water, Stewart said.

“He was able to survive because the window was manual. He was able to roll down the window and escape. He was then able to survive by clinging to a steel beam that had drifted away,” the lawyer explained. did.
