Barack Obama reportedly claimed against the Democrats who nominated then-President Kamala Harris in the wake of former President Joe Biden, who dropped out of the 2024 presidential election.
The 44th president reportedly insisted on a public treaty rather than anointing Harris as a candidate, despite receiving support from other Democrats, following Biden's shocking dropout.
“President Obama never thought Joe Biden should continue, according to sources close to President Obama, and he didn't want Kamala Harris to replace Biden,” Allen said in an interview Tuesday on MSNBC's “Morning Joe.”
“He didn't think she was the best choice for the Democrats and he worked behind the scenes for a long time to have a mini primary, an open convention, or a mini primary that leads to an open convention. [He] I had no faith in my ability to win elections,” Allen said.
“He really worked against her,” he emphasized.
Allen further revealed in a call with Veep on the day Biden “passed the baton” to Harris that Obama refused to support his candidacy as a candidate.
Obama's submission appears to be clearly known among other Democrats.
“In an instant, he was setting up a call with the House of Representatives. [James] Clyburn and Obama from South Carolina called Clyburn, as at 5:30pm on the day Joe Biden handed over the baton to Kamala Harris. And Clyburn thought to himself, this guy tries to rope me into something open convection.
The former president and former woman, Michelle Obama, ultimately lended support to Harris, just five days after Biden announced he was no longer running.
“We told her that she thinks she's going to make a great president of the United States, and she has full support for us,” Obama said with his approval. Posted on X at the timeaccompanied by a step-by-step phone video.
