Former Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., said Thursday on MSNBC’s “Katie Tarr Report” that Vice President Kamala Harris represents “the mainstream,” adding that she is “the American dream.”
“They’re going to attack her as a progressive Californian who’s out of touch with the rest of the country. Senator, how is she going to counter that?” Tarr said.
Boxer said, “First of all, she’s been vice president for almost four years. She’s represented the entire country. Secondly, when I ran I got told the same thing: Oh, you’re too liberal, you don’t understand this, you vote like this. I often say just two words, really just two words, define me, and those two words are Barbara Boxer. Now she can certainly do the same, because she is mainstream America. She is hope, she is opportunity, she is the American dream.”
She added, “And this guy is trying to bring us back. So I think this is mainstream, not extremist. I think we’re in a very good position. And finally, I’ve been in the Democratic Party for a long time, Katie, and you know, we run the gamut from left to right. And we’re united because President Biden has endorsed Kamala Harris and who she is, which is a great thing.”
