Barbra Streisand added to her playful revelations about her longtime friend Warren Beatty, admitting in her recent memoir, “My Name Is Barbra,” that she’s unsure if they ever had sex. She confessed, “I know I was sleeping in bed with him, but I don’t remember if it actually permeated,” during an interview with the New Yorker released on Saturday.
She humorously stated, “I swear to God, I can’t. There are certain things that I block.” When the interviewer called her statement “Bulls–T,” Streisand responded, “I can’t do it [remember].”
The 83-year-old actress remarked on their friendship, noting that Beatty still calls her every year on her birthday to share stories about their lives and families. “I met him when I was 15. I think he was 21,” she shared.
Beatty’s representatives did not provide immediate comments when reached for input. Streisand wrote in her memoir about their initial meeting at the Clinton Playhouse in Connecticut, describing him as “tall with the appearance of a movie star,” and how women were already captivated by him.
Reflecting on their past, she recalled a Playboy interview from 1977 where she was asked if there had been a romantic connection. “I said ‘one of my throws’ furiously,” she remembered, indicating it was more of a flippant remark than a serious acknowledgment.
Streisand has been married to James Brolin since 1998, while Beatty has been with Annette Bening since 1992. They have four children together: Stephen Ira, Benjamin, Isabelle, and Ella.
