A large barge crashed into a bridge over the Arkansas River in Oklahoma on Saturday, temporarily closing a major highway nearby, the Highway Patrol said.
The barge crashed into a bridge near Carr Lock & Dam Saturday afternoon, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

State Patrol spokeswoman Sarah Stewart said troopers shut down South Route 59 and diverted traffic from the area around 1:25 p.m. after receiving word of the incident.

There were no reports of injuries on the highway or on the barge, Stewart said.
It was not immediately clear what caused the barge to collide with the bridge.
Later Oklahoma Department of Transportation Posted in X The highway was said to have reopened after engineers inspected the bridge.
