Barring 18-20 Year-Olds from Gun Purchases ‘Runs Afoul’ of 2A

Florida Attorney General James Usmier (R) used the X-Post on Saturday to clarify a state law that bars rifles from age 18 to 20 from buying the second amendment “intense.”

uthmeier I wrote it: “We believe that limiting the ability of 18-20-year-old Floridians to purchase firearms is a violation of the second amendment to the Constitution.

He added, “Those who are the majority of age who can fight and die for our country can even be drafted into the military, but should have the ability to buy firearms to protect their families and participate in this year's turkey season.”

In another post, he observation“Men and women old enough to fight and die for our country should be able to purchase firearms to protect themselves and their families.”

Uthmeier's comments on Florida's Minimum Purchase Age Act come as laws repeal the law are moving to the state capitol. Breitbart News reported that a bill repealing the law was handed over by a House committee on Wednesday.

On March 6, 2025, Breitbart News reported that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) was urging the abolition of the state's Red Flag Act after Parkland for the purchase of rifles.
