Barron Trump, 18, won’t be delegate for dad at RNC: ‘Prior commitments’

Former first lady Melania Trump’s office told the Post on Friday that Donald Trump’s son Barron will not be a delegate to the Republican convention, citing “prior commitments.”

Barron Trump, 18, was invited to the Republican convention in Milwaukee on Wednesday as a delegate from the Florida Republican Party. This is the first time the youngest member of the Trump family has become directly involved in politics.

Melania Trump’s office said in a statement: “Mr. Barron is honored to have been selected as a representative for the Republican Party of Florida, but due to prior commitments, he unfortunately has declined to participate.”

He will join his three siblings, Don Jr., Eric and Tiffany, as delegates from the Sunshine State, and will nominate his father as the official Republican presidential candidate at the party’s convention, scheduled for July 15-18. It is highly likely that it contributed to this.

Ivanka Trump, Trump’s fourth sibling, has said she will not be involved in politics during her father’s re-election, and is the only Trump sibling not on the list.

Barron, who is about to graduate from high school and is about 6 feet 7 inches tall, has largely stayed out of the spotlight and has never been reported to have said a word in public.

He typically travels with his mother and rarely appears in public, but his recent 18th birthday may prompt him to become more involved in campaigning. yeah.

Earlier Friday, Donald Trump revealed that Barron takes an interest in politics and even gives him advice from time to time.

“He’s a little tall. I’ll tell you, he’s tall, but he’s good-looking. And he was a really great student. And he likes politics. It’s kind of funny.” President Trump spoke to “Kayal & Co.” on Philadelphia’s Talk Radio 1210 WPHT.

“Sometimes he says to me, ‘Dad, this is what you need to do,'” Trump added.

The former president also commented on where Barron would attend college, following a report in The Daily Beast that Barron would attend New York University, but it was unclear where he would ultimately attend. I didn’t.

“Anyway, he’s a good guy. He’s a senior in high school right now and he’s going to go to college. And looking at what’s been going on over the last month, a lot of the college options are changing. You know,” Trump said, apparently referring to anti-Israel campus protests.
