Former President Trump’s youngest son, Barron Trump, is set to enter the political fray for the first time.
The 18-year-old was selected Wednesday night by the Florida Republican Party as one of the statewide delegates to the Republican National Convention, according to a copy of the results.
Florida Republican Party Chairman Evan Power said the 18-year-old high school senior will serve as one of 41 at-large delegates from Florida to the national convention, where the Republican Party will nominate his father as its presidential candidate. Until now, Barron Trump has avoided politics and the public eye to focus on his studies. His name recently surfaced in public life after his father expressed concern that he would not be able to attend his son’s graduation due to an ongoing “hush money” trial in New York City.
However, the judge overseeing the trial said the court would not meet on May 17 so that President Trump could attend his son’s graduation.

He is the only child the former president and former first lady Melania Trump share.
Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump, and Trump’s youngest daughter Tiffany are also part of the Florida delegation to the convention, which will be held in Milwaukee from July 15 to July 18.
Eric Trump has been chosen as the delegation’s chairman, which means his father’s name will be included in the nomination list.
A campaign official told ABC News that Barron is “very interested in our country’s political process.”

“As part of the Florida delegation to the 2024 Republican National Convention, I will be joining an impressive group of grassroots leaders, elected officials, and members of the Trump family,” Power said in an emailed statement to The Associated Press. We’re lucky that the group can work together.”
The former president was scheduled to officially become the Republican presidential nominee on March 12, when primaries were held in Georgia, Mississippi and Washington. He called it “a really great day of victory” in a video message to supporters.
