Barron Trump to serve as GOP convention Florida delegate in political debut

Former President Trump’s youngest son, Barron Trump, has been named a Florida delegate to this year’s Republican National Convention, marking the 18-year-old’s political debut.

Barron will serve as one of 41 Republican delegates representing Florida at the party’s convention in July, but Florida Republican Party Chairman Evan Power said the party is likely to vote for Biden in November. Barron’s father is expected to be formally nominated as his presidential candidate to run against the president. Confirmed with AP.

Trump, who turned 18 earlier this year, will join the former president’s three other children, Donald Trump Jr., Eric and Tiffany. was also selected as a representative. NBC News first reported Mr. Barron was elected as a delegate on Wednesday.

The Hill has reached out to the Florida Republican Party for further comment.

“As part of the Florida delegation to the 2024 Republican National Convention, we will be joining an incredible group of grassroots leaders, elected officials, and members of the Trump family,” Power said in an emailed statement to The Associated Press. We are lucky that they are cooperating with us.”

Barron was 10 years old when his father was elected to the White House in 2016, but he largely stayed out of the public eye during the former president’s tenure.

Last month, the New York judge overseeing the former president’s hush-money criminal trial was forced to consider whether Trump could miss the trial to attend Barron’s May 17 graduation ceremony. As a result, it once again attracted public attention last month.

Judge Juan Melchan ultimately granted President Trump special permission to miss the graduation trial.

The Republican National Convention will be held in Milwaukee from July 15th to 18th.

Trump, who became a Florida resident in 2019, won the Sunshine State in both the 2016 and 2020 presidential elections.
