Basilica Shined as ‘Anomaly’ Blackout Plunged Paris Into Darkness

The City of Light was hit by a power outage on Saturday evening, a day after the lewd LGBT-themed Olympic opening ceremony drew backlash from Christians around the world, with a “technical anomaly” plunging key parts of the city into darkness.

Power was cut to tens of thousands of residents in the French capital at around 11:40pm Paris time on Saturday evening, after initial speculation that it might have been sabotage but that was later ruled out, with the local power company saying it was the result of a “technical anomaly.”

Energy provider Enedis Said The Parisian “A technical glitch caused a network outage, causing a power outage in Paris, affecting around 85,000 customers.”

Enedis said the outage affected people in the 1st arrondissement, home to the Louvre, the 9th arrondissement, home to the Paris Opera, the 17th arrondissement, which includes part of the Arc de Triomphe, and the 18th arrondissement, which is home to the Moulin Rouge and Montmartre.

Amazingly, photos shared on social media appear to show that Montmartre’s Sacré-Coeur Basilica was the only building that remained lit during the blackout, while the rest of the city was plunged into darkness.

The church was built in 1870, after the defeat of Emperor Napoleon III by the Prussian forces, in response to a call from the then Bishop of Nantes, Félix Fournier, who argued that a new basilica dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus was needed to save France from the moral corruption brought about by the French Revolution.

Many on social media linked the Paris blackout to the controversial Olympic opening ceremony, where woke drag queens inserted biblical events that seemed to mock Jesus Christ’s Last Supper.

In response to footage of the cathedral glowing out of the darkness on Saturday, Bishop Emeritus Joseph Strickland of Tyler said: Commented“The irony of a blackout in Paris following a sacrilegious incident is [and] The depraved opening ceremony of the Olympics is remarkable.

“The evil on display mocks the power of God and the city becomes powerless. May the Sacred Heart of Jesus guide us with its powerful light.”

Sister Mary Joseph Carroll, provincial of the American Province of the Servants of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, expressed a similar sentiment. I have written About X: “God is in control of everything.”

“Just 24 hours after the debauchery of the Olympic opening ceremony in Paris, the power went out. The only lights visible were those of the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus,” she said.

Following the intense backlash against the Olympic opening ceremony, the show’s organizers issued a half-hearted apology, saying, “We are of course truly sorry if anyone was offended.”
