Basketball world gutted by JuJu Watkins’ scary knee injury

The basketball world is collectively holding its breath after Juju Watkins collapsed with an apparent leg injury during a second round game on Monday night against Mississippi State in the NCAA Tournament.

As Watkins only had three points before getting injured, ESPN broadcaster Elle Duncan lamented the fact that the USC star wouldn't return to court on Monday night.

In a statement released at halftime, the team said Watkins was being evaluated by USC Keck Medical staff and that she would not return to the game.

“She's seen by our great medical team. We have a group, a fan base and a team. “Juju is the toughest kid I know and she'll be good in some way.”

Watkins entered Monday's game with an average of 24.6 points this season, earning seven rebounds and 3.5 assists in the year when the Trojans went 29-3.
