Bass Made Chief Who ‘Was on the Job’ When Fires Started ‘the Scapegoat’

In an interview with ABC7 Los Angeles on Friday, Los Angeles City Councilman Monica Rodriguez removes Rafdo Fire Chief Christine Crowley from her position, Mayor Karen Bass, who said, “Frankly, this incident is the case.” He said he was postponing responsibility to the individual who was working when the incident happened. And it's pissing to me that she's become a scapegoat in all this.” And the bass was during the fire. He said he failed to ensure that there was repairs to a fire device that was not available.

Rodriguez said: And Chief Crawley has been an incredible leader of the LA City Fire Department since her appointment. She was a ranked person, especially the women in the fire service who were promoted and served so many ranks, from paramedics to former firefighters and eventually chief of the LA city fire department. I really grew in the world class division. And one of the things that really bothered me was this idea that she didn't respond to post-action reports. It's a standard protocol and frankly, it's not something that happens quickly, nor is it something I've experienced in all the cases where Chief Crowley refused to take part. ”

She added: And it's irritating to me that she's a scapegoat in all of this. Because I knew that besides Chief Crawley I would be the perfect expert when it comes to firefighters. ”

Rodriguez also responded to Crowley's criticism that she could have had more firefighters on duty, but “though this would stem from the 'after-action report', he said. I would say that device – a fire device. It is paramount that you can keep firefighters and allow them to be deployed in incidents. Well, I went back to autumn and said I spoke to the Mayor of Base and released a position that had been withheld from the fire department and the sheet metal worker who would have repaired the very equipment that had not been commissioned. Masu. . Frankly… my question is, if you kept all those individuals for paid overtime, what could they have unfolded? ”

Rodriguez also said, “I knew. My staff knew. Generally, everyone in California knew these winds would come. So it was a surprise. It wasn't. There were warnings that were different to the warnings I received before, including life-threatening wind conditions. …For me, it's really problematic to try and saddle the Chief with all responsibility regarding the matter. We are adults, we are the elected leaders to represent this city, and for me it is a violation of taking responsibility for decisions. [one] I made it. ”
