Mysterious Packages Found on Florida Beach
A curious incident unfolded over the weekend on a Florida beach when beachgoers stumbled upon some peculiar black packages that, as it turns out, contained quite a shocking surprise.
The Walton County Sheriff’s Office reported that 25 of these packages, featuring the beloved cartoon character Yosemite Sam, washed ashore at Panhandle Beach. Inside, authorities discovered a staggering $500,000 worth of cocaine.
“If you find any suspicious square packages while enjoying our beautiful beach, please call us immediately and avoid touching them,” the sheriff’s office urged in a social media post. “These contents can be very harmful. We’re here if you need us.”
Law enforcement confiscated the drugs for investigation, but the origin of the packages remains unknown.
Interestingly, this discovery followed another incident just three days earlier on the Alabama coast. The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office received a report about a suspicious package at Fort Morgan Peninsula. Upon arrival, they retrieved a 150-pound bundle, later confirmed to contain 50 kilos of cocaine.
Authorities indicated that it’s not unusual for additional illegal packages to surface, noting the potential danger involved. “We advise the public not to open any bundles or packaging as they may harbor harmful chemicals or illicit substances,” they warned on social media.
The Sheriff’s Office has reached out to the Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) for further assistance in the matter.
