Bears-Rams playoff game begins with an impressive anthem performance

NFC Divisional Round Anthem Performance

On Sunday, Jim Cornelison performed the U.S. national anthem, adding a significant atmosphere to the NFC divisional round game between the Chicago Bears and the Los Angeles Rams.

He sang “The Star-Spangled Banner” before a full house at Soldier Field, with both NFL fans and players joining him in the moment.

Social media was buzzing with praise for Cornelison’s rendition during the game. This isn’t his first standout performance of the season; he also received a standing ovation when he sang at the Bears’ game against the Minnesota Vikings earlier this season, marking the first “Monday Night Football” game.

At 61 years old, Cornelison is a familiar face at Chicago’s sports events. He has been the national anthem singer for the Bears since 2010 and has also performed at Chicago Blackhawks games since 2008. Additionally, since 2017, he’s been singing “Back Home Again in Indiana” at the Indianapolis 500.

Beyond sports, Cornelison’s popularity extends to the arts. He is affiliated with the Lyric Opera Center for American Artists and has performed in prestigious opera houses globally. In addition, he serves as a board member for the Illinois Patriot Educational Fund and as an honorary squad leader for the Central American Air Force Band.

The outcome of the Bears vs. Rams match will determine who qualifies for the upcoming NFC Championship Game.
