Caleb Shomo of Beartooth Comes Out as Gay

Caleb Shomo, the lead singer of rock band Beartooth, publicly came out as gay on May 23, despite having been married to a woman for 14 years.

In an Instagram post, Shomo expressed that he felt “embarrassed” and had been avoiding the truth for a long time, revealing he had “buried his emotions with alcohol for 10 years.” He mentioned the speculation about his personal life and felt it necessary to clarify things to prevent any further impact on his loved ones. “I’m proud to be gay,” he noted, adding that this was something he had been contemplating for a significant stretch of time.

Shomo’s wife, Fleur Chomo, shared her own thoughts on Instagram regarding her husband’s revelations. She mentioned that the past few months had been challenging and disorienting for both of them. “It’s for both of us. But I want to continue to love, protect and support Caleb,” she emphasized, mentioning her concern for his health above all else.

Her Instagram account is currently private.

Before joining Beartooth, Shomo was a member of the Ohio metalcore group Attack Attack!, where he started as a keyboardist and eventually became the lead vocalist in 2009.

In a social media post, Shomo expressed gratitude to those who have shown him love and encouraged others struggling with their identity to “give themselves grace.”

On the other hand, Fleur Shomo reflected on her husband’s coming out as a difficult journey, stating it’s tough to support someone while feeling a sense of loss. “You can love and support someone during the most difficult time in their life, but you can also be completely devastated and lose yourself,” she reportedly observed.

She concluded their nearly 14 years of marriage have been filled with joy, adventure, and love. Even though things have changed, she urged fans to continue supporting him.
