Griffin Advocates for Local Activism Against Trump Supporters

Kathy Griffin, the left-leaning comedian and actress, recently encouraged her fans to make a list of Trump supporters, or “MAGA” individuals, in their neighborhoods.

She expressed her disdain for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), referring to immigrant detention facilities as “concentration camps.”

“You might not want to get involved in something extreme, and I don’t really either… but it’s happening all around you,” Griffin stated. “Living in Los Angeles, I’ve seen it in targeted areas here. It’s time to engage with your neighbors in real life. Find out who’s MAGA and who isn’t. We have to be aware of our allies and start planning,” she added.

Griffin also talked about creating networks of like-minded people, although she didn’t elaborate on what these groups would specifically do.

“Can we come together as a community?” she asked. “Followers in Minnesota have shared ideas about an organized system they have in place to support each other. They use encrypted apps and, as I’ve noted, they have their own signals to organize in smaller units.”

Griffin mentioned that protesters against ICE have started using whistles and horns as alerts for when federal agents are nearby.

Some observers argue that this cacophony aims to psychologically unsettle federal agents, potentially eliciting an aggressive reaction.

A social media user mentioned, “There’s a reason for this noise during some protests. It’s not used during climate change or LGBTQ rights protests. These sounds seem to trigger a reflex response that startles,” they noted.

In her ongoing plea for operational safety, Griffin encouraged the use of secure communication tools to safeguard anti-government discussions.

She noted that the “progressive” movement has evolved since the George Floyd protests, becoming more organized. It seems there’s a shift from public demonstrations to more covert tactics and coordination.

“They learned from the George Floyd incident, as it occurred near other tragic events,” Griffin explained. “So, I advise you all to live your lives, but stay aware. If you remain silent, you’re complicit.”

Amid rising immigration enforcement tactics during Trump’s second term, Griffin’s comments come in light of recent fatalities in Minneapolis. These include two anti-ICE activists who were shot while protesting against federal actions targeting undocumented immigrants.
