‘Below Deck Down Under’ star Jason Chambers diagnosed with melanoma

“Below Deck Down Under” star Jason Chambers has been diagnosed with melanoma.

The 52-year-old reality star publicly revealed the news about his health condition. instagram videos on monday.

“An update on the biopsy I had. The melanoma has returned,” Chambers explained in the video. “I'm in Australia. It was done in Bali. The Australian doctors, who are great people in Australia, were instructed to proceed to the second stage of cutting a larger section and examining the gland. I wasn’t happy with the adaptation.”

Mr Chambers said he was waiting for test results from Bali, but they might not arrive until after Christmas.

“Look at Australia, two out of three people suffer from melanoma. That's a big deal,” he pointed out. “I never wore sunscreen when I was on a boat. I used to put zinc on my nose because of the chemicals. But now there are chemical-free products. There are a lot of them, and that’s great.”

“So be sure to wear sunscreen, get some shade, cover up and enjoy your day in the sun,” Chambers added.

In the caption, the Bravo star reiterated the dangers of not protecting yourself from the sun.

“Having spent my entire life in the sun, playing sports as a child and working at sea, I thought I was immune to its harmful effects,” he wrote. “I love the sun and its health benefits are obvious, but be wise and like everything in life, it's all about balance. Choose your battles.”

Dr Chambers continued: 'I've been diagnosed with a melanoma biopsy and now I'm anxiously waiting, but what I thought was a patch on my skin improved in just six months. Early detection is key. ” he continued.

“So find chemical-free sunscreen products, add some shade with a hat, and enjoy the sun while being protected,” he concluded his post.

Chambers received support from fans after revealing his diagnosis.

“@captainjchambers I hope your results are negative,” one fan wrote in the comments section.

“Take care of yourself! I'm glad you found it and took good care of it,” said another fan.

A third person wrote: “Oh dear Captain Jason, I am so sorry to hear of your melanoma diagnosis. You are definitely in my thoughts. Sending you positive vibes towards a full recovery. I'll send you everything.”

“Oh this is what I don't want to hear. You are so loved,” said another fan.

Chambers has joined the cast of the Below Deck spinoff series, which premieres in 2022. The show follows the lives of the crew as they work and live on a superyacht over 150 feet long during a six-week charter season in Australia.
