Ben Affleck Daughter Demands Mask Mandates in L.A. Hospitals

Actor Ben Affleck’s daughter is calling on the government to make mask-wearing mandatory in Los Angeles hospitals. “The county must oppose mask bans for any reason,” Violet Affleck said.

“Hello, I’m Violet Affleck. I live in Los Angeles and I’m voting for the first time. I’m 18 years old,” the daughter of Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner said while publicly introducing herself to the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors.

Affleck, who spoke at the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors meeting wearing a mask, recalled having suffered from post-viral syndrome before the China-made coronavirus reached the United States.

“I had the aftereffects of a viral infection in 2019,” she says. “I’m OK now, but I’ve seen firsthand that even with a mild viral infection, medicine doesn’t always have an answer for the symptoms.”

The 18-year-old then spoke about the coronavirus, claiming that “one in ten infected people will progress to long COVID-19, which causes devastating neurological and cardiovascular diseases and can rob people of the ability to work, see, move and even think.”

“This will exacerbate the homelessness crisis and suffering of so many in our city,” Affleck continued, “and it will hit people of color, people with disabilities, seniors, transgender people, women, and those who work essential jobs in the public domain the hardest.”

Affleck, who is often seen in public wearing a mask, followed up with several other demands, including opposing “a ban on wearing masks for any reason.”

“To combat the prolonged COVID-19 crisis, I will call for mask availability, air filtration, and installation of far-UV lights in government facilities, including prisons and jails, and for mask-wearing to be mandatory in county health care facilities,” she said. “We must expand access to free, quality testing and treatment.”

“And most importantly, the county must oppose mask bans for any reason,” Affleck argued. “Mask bans don’t make us safer. They make vulnerable members of our communities less safe and make it harder for us to all come together in Los Angeles.”
