“AI can write great imitation poetry that sounds Elizabethan, but it can't write Shakespeare,” Affleck continued. “The ability to have two actors in a room, or three or four actors, and the sense to identify and structure that, is something that AI is not fully capable of at the moment, but it does make sense. I think that will happen for a certain period of time.”

He continued, “What AI is trying to do is not mediate the laborious, less creative, more costly aspects of filmmaking, but rather reduce costs, lower barriers to entry, and create more “We will be able to have our voices heard.” That would make it easier for people who want to make “Good Will Huntings'' to go make it. ”

The A-list actor, who founded his own production company Artists Equity with longtime friend and fellow star Matt Damon, said AI is “artisan at best” and that other people are building certain things. He said that it is a tool that can be used to observe things. Then you learn to imitate.

“They're just cross-pollinating what's out there,” Affleck said, referring to AI's ability to build something from a library of existing examples. “Nothing new is born.”

When the host claimed that was only true for now, Affleck insisted that it would be true for a long time to come.

“The craftsman knows how to work, and the art knows when to stop,” he said. “And I think knowing when to stop is a very difficult thing for an AI to learn, because it's a matter of taste.”

He admitted, “I don't want to be in the visual effects business. They're in trouble because things that cost a lot of money are now getting a lot cheaper. And that's why the field It's going to hurt, and it already has…but it's not going to replace humans making movies.”

Ultimately, the goal will be to use AI to help with the more technical parts of filmmaking, allowing studios to create more content for audiences faster, he said. Ta.
