Comedians and actors plan to come together on a Zoom call Monday night, hoping to join a growing stream of fundraisers for Vice President Kamala Harris.
After hosting other race-centered Zoom calls titled “White Women Support Kamala” and “White Men Support Kamala,” the Harris campaign decided the online calls to action had been successful enough that they needed to move forward with the format.

Ben Stiller, Jason Bateman, John Stamos and Nick Offerman are among the celebrities set to appear at the event. eventaround deadlineOther well-known actors include Jon Hamm (Mad Men), David Koechner (Anchorman) and Craig Robinson (Brooklyn Nine-Nine).
Other prominent Democratic activists on the list include Patton Oswalt, Kathy Griffin, Tom Arnold, DL Hughley and Rosie O’Donnell.
The aforementioned “white supporters of Harris” call was attended by celebrities such as Jeff Bridges and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, as well as politicians such as Democratic governors Tim Walz (Minnesota) and Roy Cooper (North Carolina), and reportedly raised more than $4 million. Participants shared various stories of trauma caused by President Trump and explained why they felt Harris’ election was the most important thing.
Actor Josh Gad, for example, recalled crying at his children’s bedside when Donald Trump won the presidential election in 2016.
“I don’t know if you can remember the feelings that you all had on the night of Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2016. I remember those feelings. I stood at my children’s beds and cried,” Gadd said.
Blaze TV’s Alex Stein described the story as “creepy” and “bizarre”, adding: “Crying in front of your kids is the last thing a father should do.”
Author Bridget Fettassy called the female version of this incident a form of “white supremacy” in action.
“You have to believe that you are better than anyone else and that it is your responsibility to uplift all those poor people who can’t help themselves and talk to them like little children,” she said. Blaze TV Hosted by Glenn Beck.
Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell praised the event and praised Democratic candidates afterward for having a renewed energy.
“A lot of people are heartened by President Biden’s graceful departure and passing of the baton,” Swalwell said.[Harris] She loves to have fun and her biggest charm is laughter.”
Swalwell, a California Democrat, praised the explicitly whites-only event and said it set a “very high bar” for future fundraising. Swalwell added that he had reached out to the owner of comedy club Stand Up New York to help organize the August 5 event.
