Ben Stiller worries he could be a bad luck charm for Mitchell Robinson

Ben Stiller Reflects on Mitchell Robinson’s Free Throw Struggles

Here’s something interesting: Ben Stiller might have figured out why Mitchell Robinson has been struggling with his foul shots. And the twist? The “Zoolander” actor thinks he could be to blame.

During an appearance on “Don, Hearn & Rosenberg,” Stiller mentioned his upcoming encounter with rapper Fat Joe at a game and shared a revealing moment. He recalled how Joe noticed he seemed overly stressed at the game, which, according to Stiller, could be affecting the players’ performance. “I could see Mitchell looking over at me, and I realized—I might be stressing him out,” he said.

Adding to the conversation, comedian Tracy Morgan provided some perspective. Stiller reflected on Morgan’s words about how players can sense stress from spectators, which could lead to a negative impact on their game. “We shouldn’t let them see our stress,” Stiller said, indicating a kind of awareness about the energy they project.

Co-host Peter Rosenberg jumped in with a playful assertion, saying, “So that’s why Mitchell Robinson missed those free throws! He kept looking at you!”

Stiller acknowledged the irony of Morgan’s comments, recalling a time when Morgan himself had to be wheeled out of a venue after a bad experience, humorously hinting at shared struggles.

Upcoming Playoff Insights

Stiller mentioned he skipped watching Game 1 against the Pacers, where the Knicks faced a significant loss. The Knicks’ strategy this season included a focus on Robinson’s noticeable challenges at the free-throw line, where he hit only 37.5% of his shots during the playoffs, which is quite low. On this particular night, he missed both attempts again.

In a lighter note, Stiller couldn’t help but highlight fellow actor Timothy Chalamet, a passionate Knicks supporter. “He really, truly lives for this team,” he said, appreciating the shared enthusiasm among fans like himself, from the front-row scenes of enthusiastic crowd members to behind-the-scenes celebrity life.
