Bengals Face Challenges as Joe Burrow Recovers

The Bengals have struggled in their last two games without starting quarterback Joe Burrow. Coach Zach Taylor, however, expressed strong confidence in backup Jake Browning, stating his trust in him is “unshakable.”

Interestingly, reports indicate that the Bengals have not explored trades with other teams for more experienced quarterbacks, even with the trade deadline approaching on November 4th, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Backup quarterbacks like Russell Wilson from the Giants, Kirk Cousins from the Falcons, and Joe Flacco from the Browns are currently available, yet Cincinnati hasn’t pursued them.

Burrow underwent toe surgery in September and is expected to be sidelined for at least three months, raising questions about his return this season.

The Bengals started the season strong with two wins, but recently faced steep losses against the Vikings and Broncos, trailing 76-13 combined in those outings. This tough stretch puts them on a collision course with the Lions in their upcoming home game.

During Burrow’s absence, Browning has taken the reins, posting a 4-3 record. However, his performance has raised concerns; he threw two interceptions in a loss to the Vikings and managed only 125 passing yards against the Broncos last week.

The team also has veteran Brett Lipien on its roster, adding some depth to the quarterback situation. Nonetheless, with Burrow’s status uncertain, the Bengals face a daunting challenge ahead.
