Bengals’ Sam Hubbard Retires from the NFL at 29

Longtime Cincinnati Bengals defensive stubborn and team captain Sam Hubbard has decided to retire from the NFL at the age of 29.

For seven years, veterinarians posted an announcement on social media.

“What's next? It's the end of my playing career, but I consider this a new beginning,” he said. “I will be taking on new chapters to explore other business opportunities, as well as the mission of the Sam Hubbard Foundation, my health and my family, and I will also be taking on new challenges.

“I am a huge thank you to the NFL for my teammates, coaches, trainers, support staff, ownership of the Bengals and everything I did for me. I couldn't do this alone. Fans – who to Dey Nation – I am the most grateful to you. You inspired me. From years of struggle and adversity to Super Bowl LVI, you never stopped believing. I hope I'm proud of you.”

Hubbard played high school ball at Archbishop Mawler in Cincinnati and spent his college days with the Buckeyes in Ohio.

Buckeye joined the league in 2018 as a third round pick for Bengal, spending his entire career in his hometown franchise. Hubbard finished his career with 38.5 sacks and 398 tackles in 104 career games.
