Benny Johnson criticizes the political left for missing 'basic human decency'

Benny Johnson Voices Concerns Over America’s Political Climate

Conservative commentator Benny Johnson has expressed deep concerns about the state of America’s values, attributing the decline to policies from the political left that seem to lack “basic human decency and sympathy.” In a recent interview, he shared a personal story involving his wife and newborn, describing their negative experience during a trip to Washington, D.C. in 2020, which he labeled as a “sloppy hit job.”

He noted, “On the left, there’s this intimidating tactic: dehumanizing political adversaries.” Johnson, who has a substantial following on social media, insists that he doesn’t see fellow Americans as enemies. Even when former President Joe Biden was diagnosed with prostate cancer earlier this year, Johnson said he prayed for the Biden family despite their political differences, which, I suppose, is a pretty generous gesture in today’s climate.

He added, “Whatever time God has for him, I hope it’s not painful. We shouldn’t celebrate the suffering of another American,” indicating that he expects less compassion from the left. Johnson shared his discontent regarding responses he witnessed after a tragic shooting in Minneapolis, mentioning how some prominent figures on the left couldn’t even offer a prayer for the victims.

He referenced California Governor Gavin Newsom and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey among those who criticized prayers offered after such tragedies. Johnson’s sentiments also turned to the past, recalling the reaction when a shooter attacked former President Trump. According to him, many responses surrounding that event felt more frustrated at the shooter than sympathetic towards the victims.

Recently, over Labor Day weekend, there were unsettling rumors about Trump’s health circulating. Johnson, while on CBS’s “Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” mentioned feeling frustrated by the audience’s reactions — a kind of exasperation that just feels so out of place nowadays.

Johnson concluded with a call for basic human decency, expressing a desire for a society that respects everyone, irrespective of their political stance. “This should be a moral issue, not a political one,” he stated passionately, emphasizing the importance of community values for future generations.

“Honestly, I want a country where people aren’t out there causing harm just because they disagree with someone else politically. It’s about building a society where kindness and decency thrive.”

Such reflections may seem idealistic, or perhaps even naive, but they do tap into a longing for a more compassionate political discourse. Johnson is determined to foster this vision for his children, as he believes it embodies the America everyone should aspire to create.
