Berlin Police Chief Says Young Foreign Males Behind Violent Crime Wave

Young foreign men are the driving force behind the violence in Berlin, the German capital’s police chief has admitted.

in interview In an interview with broadcaster NTV, Berlin Police Chief Barbara Slovik tacitly acknowledged that the German government’s open border policy has led to increased crime on the streets of the country’s largest city.

“Frankly, our statistics show that violence in Berlin is committed by young people, by men and by people from non-German backgrounds. This also applies to knife violence,” Slowik said.

“Police crime statistics distinguish between German and foreign suspects, and in recent years there has been an overall increase in violent crime in the capital, as well as an increase in the number of foreign offenders. Foreigners are over-represented,” she explained.

The police chief also said there had been a steady increase in knife crime among young offenders, particularly children.

She also said officers reported they had noticed “a decline in respect among some sections of the public.”

“The threshold for assaulting a police officer, even if it’s just a shove, has been significantly lowered,” Slowik said.

The Berlin police chief’s blunt comments come in the wake of a series of high-profile stabbings committed by Afghan migrants in recent weeks.

In one case, a rejected asylum seeker from Afghanistan went on a stabbing rampage in Mannheim at a rally against the Islamization of Germany: the immigrant knifeman stabbed several people, including a police officer who eventually died from his injuries.

It came after another knife attack by an Afghan immigrant last week, stabbing another Afghan to death and wounding three more.

Violent crimes committed by foreigners surged last year, reaching 79,088 suspected violent criminals in 2023. This is a 14% increase compared to 2022, when 69,086 non-Germans were suspected of violent crimes.

Commenting on the rise in violent crime among foreigners in Germany, the newspaper Welt am Sonntag said: I have written“One thing is certain: many people are becoming less safety-conscious.

“These are incidents that have shaken the nation. Another knife attack. Another attack perpetrated by people who had fled war to find a peaceful home in Germany and who themselves became a threat to public safety.”

“Violent crime continues to rise and people without a German passport are significantly over-represented in the statistics. No one talks about individual cases anymore.”
