Bernie Marsden, former Whitesnake guitarist, dead at 72

Bernie Marsden, the original guitarist of British rock band Whitesnake, has died. he was 72 years old.

Marsden died Thursday surrounded by his wife and daughters, his family confirmed in a statement.

“On behalf of the family, it is with great sadness that I announce the passing of Bernie Marsden,” he said in a statement on his Instagram page.

The cause of death has not been disclosed.

British hard rock band formed in London in 1978. Marsden, the former guitarist for Whitesnake, played with original band members frontman David Cloverdale, drummer Dave Dowie, bassist Neil Murray and guitarist Mick Moody.

Marsden was born in Buckingham in 1951 and started rock and roll with the band UFO in 1972, before playing with Whitesnake from 1978 to 1982. During his musical career, he was in several bands, including Alaska and the Moody Marsden Band.

Tawny Kitaen’s cause of death revealed

During his time with Whitesnake, Marsden was credited with co-writing the band’s popular song “Here I Go Again”.

The band’s biggest single topped the Billboard Hot 100 Songs chart in October 1987, staying there for a total of 28 weeks. According to Billboard, Marsden also co-wrote “Fool for Your Loving,” which peaked at number 37 on the Hot 100 in 1989.

While a member of Whitesnake, Marsden recorded the rock band’s first five albums, “Trouble,” “Lovehunter,” “Lady Unwilling,” “Come An Get It,” and “Saints.” And Sinners”.

The legendary rocker went on to release several solo albums, including “And About Time Too,” “Look at Me Now,” and most recently, “Trio” in 2022.
