Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) has been an “advocate” for Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (D), Vice President Kamala Harris’ running mate, according to Republican National Committee (RNC) co-chair Laura Trump. Breitbart News DailyHe reacted to the news live on air alongside host Mike Slater.
The news that Harris had chosen Waltz as her running mate came during a television appearance by Trump with Slater, and Slater suggested it signaled Democrats’ concerns about holding on to Minnesota, a state that Harris needs to win.
“They obviously want to win Minnesota and it’s a very important state for Donald Trump. You may have noticed we added Minnesota to our battleground states map, we didn’t add it previously,” she explained, noting Trump’s strong approval rating in the state.
“For Kamala Harris to be the next president, she needs to win Minnesota. They really want to win Minnesota,” she said, turning to Walz himself.
“And actually, if you look at the fact that Walz is incredibly progressive in his views, he’s extremely… We have both ends of the aisle candidates running for the Democratic nomination right now. Bernie Sanders is a supporter of his and really likes the way he thinks about things. So that’s pretty much everything you need to know about Walz,” she said, noting that he’s scheduled to travel to Minnesota on Thursday for an event about election integrity.

“We’re doing an event on election integrity, which is a particular focus of the Republican National Committee – making sure we have free, fair and transparent elections. I think that’s really important for the future of this country. So I’m going to Minnesota this Thursday and we’ll see what Minnesotans think about this selection,” she continued, adding, “I think the American people will be frightened by the prospect of these two people running for office at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue and we’ve got to get them away from there.”
Asked about the RNC’s approach to opponents, Trump added that the records of Harris, Walz and the Democratic Party as a whole all matter.
“I think everything matters. I think we need to go after the records of both people. Look at Kamala Harris’ horrible record. [she] “They don’t want us to talk about it, but he hasn’t accomplished much as vice president other than failing as border commissioner,” she said.
“We have to go after Walz. As you pointed out, he has very extreme views on things that are frightening to the American people. And this Democratic Party is a party that has proven it cannot be trusted. I don’t know how any self-respecting American can vote for a party that has consistently lied to them,” she said.
“We have to expose and attack all of them for everything that they have actually done. And unfortunately for them, and fortunately for us, they have made that very easy, because they have honestly shown the American people their cards and who they are,” Trump added.
