Trump Accounts Enrollment Reaches Seven Million

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced that the launch of Trump Accounts has been a historic success, reaching seven million enrollees.

Officially started on July 4th, Trump Accounts are designed to help children under 18 build wealth through tax-advantaged investment in broad stock market index funds.

Bessent shared at the Financial Literacy and Education Commission meeting that Trump Accounts aim to create “a new class of shareholders.” He noted, “American families, left on the sidelines of Wall Street for too long, will finally understand what it feels like to have a piece of the action.”

According to Bessent, the program has grown by 6.5 million enrollments since earlier this month.

He stressed the importance of providing “great real-time learning experiences” given that many young adults are seeking financial advice from social media and AI.

“Many consumers, especially younger Americans, are turning to social media, online communities, and AI for financial advice,” Bessent pointed out. “Today, we will focus on helping them evaluate this information critically, navigate the digital marketplace safely, and make financial decisions more confidently. By meeting consumers where they are, we can ensure that financial education keeps pace with financial innovation.”

The milestone was celebrated by the White House in a post on social media, stating:

“7 MILLION American families have already signed up for Trump Accounts, giving their children a jumpstart on the American Dream. What are you waiting for?”
