The NFL’s first week is officially behind us. For kickers, it seems most had a solid showing, with two successful field goals in two games, including those impressive kicks over 50 yards. It might be that the league’s rules on “preparing” the kicking ball are having an impact, though it’s hard to say for sure. But one thing is clear: kickers are increasingly nailing longer attempts with accuracy. One standout was Chris Boswell of the Steelers, who managed two kicks from 56 and 60 yards, with the latter securing a 34-32 win for Pittsburgh with just a minute remaining.
On a different note, the 49ers released Moody after he missed two field goals during a game against the Seahawks. His overall performance wasn’t great, as he converted only 24 of 34 attempts last season.
Koo, meanwhile, struggled in 2024, hitting only 73% of his attempts. Adding to his woes, he missed a crucial kick in Week 1 against the Buccaneers. To keep him on his toes, the team has brought in Parker Romo to compete with him this week.
For kickers, it’s best to look for opportunities in high-scoring games, especially those held at home or in favorable weather conditions.

Tyler Loop, Ravens vs. Browns
Loop impressed as the sixth-best fantasy kicker in Week 1 after the Ravens scored 40 points against the Bills. This week, he’ll face the Browns at home as an 11-point favorite, but interestingly, he’s only on 39% of Yahoo League rosters.
Chad Ryland, Cardinals vs. Panthers
Ryland had a decent performance in Week 1 against the Saints, connecting on a 50-yarder while only missing out due to a blocked 46-yard attempt. He returns home this week to play against the Panthers as a 6.5-point favorite.
