The fantasy football playoffs are kicking off. There’s really no turning back now. Sure, you could shut everything down—your devices, your mail, even the TV—and live on ramen noodles for decades, but why not face the challenge and dive into fantasy football? It might be more enjoyable. Anyway, here are my rankings for running backs in standard scoring formats.
Chris Rodriguez, Manager vs. Giants
Rodriguez has been a key player in the backfield, although his number of touches has been relatively low—only 12 and 10 in the last couple of games. He did manage to score a touchdown and averaged 4.4 yards per carry against the Broncos and Vikings. This week, he should find it easier against the Giants, who have a weak run defense.
Devon Ashen, Dolphins
Ashen left last week’s game due to a rib injury and didn’t return. However, the coach mentioned that he could come back if necessary. The Dolphins face the Steelers on Monday night, giving him a bit more time to heal. Hopefully, we’ll know by Sunday if he’s good to go. Meanwhile, Jalen Wright stepped up in his absence, but I think those in the fantasy playoffs will be hoping for Ashen’s return to the lineup.
Benson had an injury in Week 4 and underwent surgery on his meniscus. He’s been practicing in limited capacity recently but needs to be activated from IR this week, or his season will be finished.
Mitchell missed last week’s game due to a knee issue and, while it’s thought to be minor, he might still be sidelined this week. He might not have a major fantasy impact, but we’ve seen that he can produce decent yardage even with limited touches.
Kamara dealt with an MCL sprain in Week 12, causing him to miss the following two weeks. Devin Neal has taken on the lead role during his absence. He’s not on IR, which is positive, but he hasn’t practiced yet. He’ll need some practice ahead of this week’s game against the Panthers.
