‘Best coach in the f–king sport’

Dan Hurley's sideline antics have become the stuff of legend, even though they don't always inspire people in the right way.

The UW men's basketball coach may have taken things to a whole new level Tuesday night against Butler.

Hurley listens to referee Nathan Ferrell during a TV timeout at the XL Center Monday after a Huskies defensive rebound resulted in a turnover with 2:58 left in the first half with UW leading 37-27. Gave the call.

Dan Hurley yelled abuse at the referee.

Big East officials had other ideas as they turned their backs on Hurley and walked away.

Hurley didn't care about that at all, and delivered the absolutely barbaric quote that was featured on the FS1 broadcast.

“Don't turn your back on me,” cried Harley. “I'm the best coach in this sport.”

Some may see that as arrogant and arrogant, but Hurley can make a case for coaching as a two-time defending national champion.

But Rick Pitino of St. John's University, Bill Self of Kansas State University and Tom Izzo of Michigan State University can certainly make a case.

Hurley enjoyed a group hug with Butler coach Thad Matta and another official, and the three appeared to have a good laugh throughout, as the three of them appeared to have a good laugh.

The Huskies, currently ranked No. 19 by the Associated Press, have struggled a bit this season.

They lost 68-63 to Creighton on Saturday, but bounced back to 14-5 with an 80-78 overtime win over Butler.
