If you were looking for an extra few hundred dollars before the NFL Draft, we hope you had a lot of money on hand.
With all the rumors swirling leading up to the draft, there’s one outcome Las Vegas oddsmakers have been certain of for weeks: Caleb Williams will go No. 1 overall.
That’s why, in the hours leading up to Roger Goodell’s podium in Detroit, FanDuel Sportsbook was offering odds as low as 1 in 1,000 for USC’s quarterback to be the top pick.
Despite such a small payout, and despite the big risks involved if the Bears deviate from what the NFL world has considered the norm for several weeks, some bettors will still bite.
And Chicago followed suit, and those bettors pocketed some serious change when they chose Williams with their top selection.
A bettor at Caesars Sportsbook bet a whopping $100,000 on Williams to be the top draft pick at 1/200 and won $500 when the bet came out right.
Another bettor took a slightly lower gamble at the same odds, winning $56.28 on a $11,255.25 bet at DraftKings Sportsbook.
A third sports gambler at BetMGM Sportsbook won $100 after depositing $10,000 at 1/100.
Do you want to bet on the NFL?
Other Williams No. 1 pick bettors with a little less money to throw around weren’t so lucky – like another Caesars bettor. According to Vegas Insider’s Patrick EversonI won a penny by betting 10 cents at -1000 in late January.
It’s an outrageous use of money, but maybe these bettors have the money to catch Williams’ NFL debut in September.
