Shannen Doherty, the beloved star of “Beverly Hills 90210,” died Saturday at age 53 after a long battle with breast cancer, People magazine reported.
Doherty’s longtime spokeswoman, Leslie Sloan, said: people.
“On Saturday, July 13, she lost her battle with cancer after a long struggle,” Sloan said. “A devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend, she was surrounded by her loved ones and her beloved dog, Bowie. The family asks that their privacy be respected at this time so they can grieve in peace.”

According to the outlet, Doherty was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015 and, after going into remission, revealed in 2017 that the cancer had returned. She shared her painful battle with the disease on social media, frequently updating her fans on the tests and treatments she was undergoing. Doherty spoke candidly about the fear and mental struggles she experienced while struggling with the disease and during treatment.
According to the outlet, Doherty rose to fame when she played Brenda Walsh in the original Beverly Hills, 90210, which aired in October 1990. She quickly gained a large fan base and stayed on the show until its fourth season in 1994. According to People magazine, Doherty then guest-starred in the reboot in 2008, and reprised her role as the adult version of Walsh in the 2019 reboot of the show.
According to the outlet, the famous actress played Prue Halliwell on “Charmed” and also directed a few episodes before leaving the show in 2001. She also had a brief stint on the reality show “Breaking Up with Shannen Doherty” and was a dance contestant on “Dancing with the Stars.” She reportedly hosted the “Let’s Be Clear with Shannen Doherty” podcast until her death.

Fans, family and loved ones took to social media to pay tribute to Doherty. No funeral arrangements have been announced yet.
