‘Beverly Hills Cop’ actor John Ashton dead at 76 after cancer battle

“Beverly Hills Cop” star John Ashton has died. He was 76 years old.

The actor passed away “peacefully” at Fort Martin. Thursday in Collins, Colorado, Page Six confirmed. TMZ coverage He passed away after a battle with cancer.

“John leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication and service,” his agent Alan Summers said in a statement.

“His memory will be forever cherished by his wife, children, grandchildren, and his brothers, sisters, extended family, and all who loved him,” the statement continued. .

Ashton is survived by his wife of 24 years, Robin Hoe;

He was the father of two children and three stepchildren, Michelle Ashton and Michael Thomas Ashton. His grandson Henry “held a special place in his heart.”

He made more than 200 films during his 50 years in Hollywood and was best known for his role as Sergeant John Taggart, co-starring Eddie Murphy, in the 1984 film “Beverly Hills Cop.''

Ashton recently reprized his role in Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, which was released on Netflix in July.

In June, she attended the film's premiere at the Wallis Annenberg Performing Arts Center in Beverly Hills, California.

The Massachusetts native co-starred with Robert De Niro in the 1988 film Midnight Run and also appeared in John Hughes' 1987 comedy Some Kind of Wonderful.

During his hiatus from acting, he co-hosted ESPN Radio's “The Ashton & Davis Show.''
