Biden Administration Compromised Airport Safety by Placing Migrants There

Senate Report Critiques Biden Administration’s Airport Security Measures

A recent Senate Commerce Committee report suggests that the Biden administration may have compromised airport security by repurposing parts of airports as immigrant detention facilities.

The detailed report, titled “Flight Risks,” highlights the Biden administration’s open border policy and claims it has led to a decline in airport and aviation safety through three specific avenues. Notably, it mentions airports in three Democratic-led cities—New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport, Boston’s Logan International Airport, and Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport—each received federal funding to accommodate “hundreds of foreign nationals” within their terminals.

The committee also asserts that the administration has pressured other airports to follow suit while trying to divert the Department of Transportation (DOT) from its core responsibilities in order to advance its controversial immigration policies.

Further complicating matters, President Biden, via the FAA, has urged Logan, O’Hare, and at least eight other airports to host a greater number of undocumented immigrants. In a corresponding move, the Massachusetts Port Authority—a body overseeing Logan Airport—raised safety concerns when requested to house foreign nationals, suggesting it could lead to operational hazards. However, the FAA, along with Democratic state and local authorities, overlooked these warnings, permitting foreign nationals to stay overnight in the Logan terminal for over a year.

The report also points out that the TSA relied on “unreliable data” from the CBP One application to authenticate the identities of immigrants. Meanwhile, the Biden administration redirected federal air marshals from flight security to the southern border in response to rising illegal immigration linked to the current open border policies.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy reacted strongly to the findings, criticizing the administration for prioritizing the housing of illegal immigrants in airports while American veterans faced homelessness. He expressed disbelief over the lack of concern for public safety, thanking former President Trump for restoring focus on American issues.

This report emerges amid ongoing efforts from the Trump administration to emphasize an America First agenda, which prioritizes the needs and safety of American citizens over that of foreign individuals, including those facing actions from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
