Michigan voters made their voices heard in the presidential primary, handing President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump easy victories, but they also encountered large-scale protest voting in the Democratic primary.

The victory in the Great Lakes State moves the two closer to a rematch in November.

Trump dominated in Michigan, winning about 68% of the vote and winning every county in the primary.

Meanwhile, rival candidate Nikki Haley (RS.C.) received 26.5% of the vote, falling short of winning one county in the Wolverine State.

Despite not winning any of the Republican primaries, the former South Carolina governor vowed to continue campaigning through Super Tuesday, March 5.th.

Additionally, she lost her home state of South Carolina on Saturday, but her loss in Michigan all but guarantees that her path to becoming the Republican nominee will be very narrow.

On the Democratic side, Mr. Biden received more than 617,000 votes, or about 81%, while “non-commitment” voters accounted for 13.3%, or more than 100,000 votes.

Experts believe Biden lost votes in Michigan because of his stance on the Israeli-Hamas war. Several pro-Palestinian activists organized an effort to vote for “Irresponsible” instead of Biden in the primary to show their dissatisfaction with the president.

Organizers had hoped for at least 10,000 “unconfirmed” votes, but in the end 10 times that number were registered on election night.

A rematch for the White House is expected in November due to poor turnout between Trump and Biden’s challengers.

Most experts believe Michigan will be a key state in the general election that could determine the outcome of who wins the White House.
